SUE PEREZ, FEATURED ARTIST FOR JULY

Sue Perez is a self- taught artist, learning through hundreds of paintings and drawings over the past decade. This creative journey began about 25 years ago when a devastating tornado left her to ponder man's time on earth and how her art could leave an impression on future generations.  Her exploration into the aesthetic of the commonplace has resulted in a deep appreciation of the truth and beauty of everyday ordinary things.  For Perez, art is a celebration of life and life's experiences and activities, which are often reflected in her work. Recent color pencil drawings express an appreciation of animals and people that she has met and observed.

Having had numerous showings in Nebraska, Alaska, Colorado and displaying work on several sites on-line, has brought attention to Sue's work worldwide. She has her miniature works included in several world- wide publications. Her art work graces the walls of admirers in all 50 states as well as 29 countries. She has been a member of the North Platte Art Guild where she served as President from 2006 to present. Perez has won a number of awards with her art, including Nebraskaland Days’ Best of Show 4 times along with many other Best of Shows and Peoples Choice Awards. She has had pieces travel with the ANAC Traveling Show and is an ANAC signature artist. Perez is also a member of IMPACT artists of Nebraska.

Perez is currently working on a series of color pencil drawings that offer her view into the spirituality of animals using a colorful zentangle style.  She has endeavored in some small way to encapsulate the spirit and the strength of life experiences through her art.

This show includes art by Sue's daughter, Heather Horn. Heather is known for her fantastic owl paintings.
